SparkerVoice is built by one parent, for other families like ours. This page explains, in plain language, what we actually collect and why — not a wall of legal boilerplate nobody reads.
Who this is for
SparkerVoice is used by the adult caregiver, parent, or therapist on a child's behalf — accounts are created and managed by that adult, not by the child directly. The AAC board works with no account at all, using a starter set of core words — creating a free account unlocks the full 1,220+ card library, custom cards, and saving your board across visits. Calm Sandbox works fully with no account required.
Works offline, on purpose
Once the app has loaded on your device, the built-in AAC card library and every Calm Sandbox tool keep working with no internet connection at all — nothing about them needs to reach our server. Your own uploaded photos and voice recordings still need a connection to load, same as any file stored online.
What we collect, if you make a free account
Your email, and whatever profile info you choose to add — name, city (never a full address), bio, role, and an optional child's first name. If you use SparkConnect, this also covers what you post, who you connect with, and messages you send. If you use Family Sanctuary, your journal entries stay private to your account unless you explicitly choose to share one anonymously.
Photos and voice recordings you choose to add
If you record your own voice for an AAC card, or add a photo to a card or your profile, that's stored so it plays back for you. We don't use it for anything beyond that — no training AI models on it, no sharing it outside your account.
Direct messages
1:1 conversations on SparkConnect only happen between two people who both approved the connection. Messages are end-to-end encrypted once both people have secure messaging set up on their device — not even we can read them in that case. If you report a message, only the reported content is shared with our small moderation review, and only because you chose to report it.
Anonymous usage counts
We track a couple of site-wide totals (like how many times the AAC board has been tapped, in aggregate) to understand if the tools are actually helping. These are anonymous running counts, not tied to your account or any individual session. If you're signed in, we separately show you your own tap/streak stats on your Home page — that one is tied to your account, but it's for you, not shared with anyone else.
What we don't do
No ads. No selling or renting your data to anyone, ever. No ad-tracking scripts on this site — nothing like Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel is loaded here. We do use a privacy-friendly page-visit counter (Vercel Web Analytics) — no cookies, no cross-site tracking, and it never identifies you individually. Every service that touches your data is chosen and configured by us, not a marketing vendor.
Your control over your data
You can edit or remove most of your profile info yourself in Account Settings at any time. You can also permanently delete your account and everything tied to it — your profile, boards, custom cards, connections, posts, and messages — yourself, immediately, from the "Delete My Account" button in the Danger Zone of Account Settings. It's irreversible on purpose: there's a type-to-confirm step first, and no recovery after that. If anything about that doesn't work as expected, the Feedback button is still there for help.
Changes to this policy
If what we collect or how we use it ever changes in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and note the date at the top.
This describes what SparkerVoice actually does today, written by the person who built it. It isn't a substitute for independent legal advice, and hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer — if you have specific legal or compliance questions, please consult one directly.
